FuelCalc Open the app

Fuel surcharge in ten seconds.

Add fuel to a linehaul or break it out of an all-in rate, using the exact matrix on the load. Free, works on any phone, and works offline.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add your matrix

Upload the matrix you got from a shipper, broker or carrier as Excel, PDF, Word or CSV, or paste it. Fuel Calc reads the bands and shows you what it found. Formula matrices work too.

  2. 2

    Pick the DOE week

The weekly EIA on-highway diesel average loads automatically: the U.S. average or your PADD region, this week or any recent week your contract uses.

  3. 3

    Get the numbers

Fuel, linehaul and all-in, in dollars and per mile, with the band and DOE week that produced them. Copy it into a text or an email in one tap.

Built for the whole load

Drivers & owner-operators

Check the fuel on your settlement against the matrix you were promised, load by load.

Dispatchers

Quote all-in or linehaul plus fuel on the phone, without opening a spreadsheet.

Brokers

Keep each customer’s and carrier’s matrix side by side, and run a whole lane list at once.

Shippers

Check the fuel on carrier invoices against your own schedule and the right DOE week.

What’s in it

  • Your matrices. Band tables in $/mile or % of linehaul, stepped formulas, or (DOE − base) ÷ MPG.
  • Break out fuel. Got an all-in rate? See how much of it is fuel and how much is linehaul.
  • Lanes. Price one lane or a whole spreadsheet, with truck-route miles filled in from origin and destination (editable), by pickup-date DOE week.
  • Regional DOE. Price a matrix off the U.S. average or a PADD region, including California.
  • Share a matrix. Send a link and the other person saves the same matrix in one tap.
  • Sync, if you want it. A free account keeps your matrices on every phone and computer. No password, just a code by email.

Fuel Calc does the math on the matrix you give it. Check your contract for which DOE week and region apply.

Privacy

Without an account, everything stays on your device. Matrices and the files you upload are read on your phone or computer and are never sent to us.

With a free account we store your email address, the role you pick (optional), whether you asked for product updates, and your matrices, so they can sync between your devices. We use them to run the app and, only if you tick the box, to email you about Fuel Calc. We don’t sell or share them.

Automatic truck miles. When you ask Fuel Calc to fill in miles, the origin and destination you entered are sent to our server and to Microsoft Azure Maps to calculate the truck route. We keep a cache of places and city-to-city miles (no names, rates or account details) so repeat lanes are instant. Nothing else from your lanes or files is sent.

Feature counts. To learn what to improve, the app counts which features are used each day (for example, how many calculations or lane uploads), plus a random device number to count active devices. No names, emails, rates, matrices or locations, and no ad or tracking cookies.

Feedback you send goes to the person who builds Fuel Calc, with the screen, app version and device type.

You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen. Everything stored with it is deleted.

Diesel prices come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
